Middle Europe, especially Alps; grassy slopes and open forests

Taxonomy:
Kews regard the dichotomy of Lilium bulbiferum to subsp. croceum and subsp. bulbiferum as not valid and propose the nomenclature of f. croceum and f. bulbiferum.
